Los Angeles has some really cool features like culture, music, arts, entertainment, and sports. Los Angeles strives to please everybody.
Culture
Los Angeles is a main cultural center. It offers art, architecture, libraries, and museums. The arts includes music and entertainment. There are many styles of architecture including Spanish style homes with stuccoed wall and tiled roofs, modern buildings designed by Richard J. Neutra and Frank Lloyd Wright, and buildings with straight sides and glass walls that can withstand earthquakes. One of the largest libraries in the nation is the Los Angeles Public Library. Los Angeles has a lot of museums including the Los Angeles County Museum, Museum of Contemporary Art, Huntington Library, Art Collections, and Botanical Gardens; J. Paul Getty Museum, Natural History Museum, and the California Science Center.
Music, Arts, & Entertainment
The Hollywood Bowl was built in 1922 and seats 17,000 people. It is an outdoor amphitheater where music and concerts are played. There is a legend that when Los Angeles was part of Mexico a custom started - the first person to wake up sang a popular song. Angelenos continue to love music today. There are all different types of music including jazz, rock, classical, blues, and pop that can be heard in Los Angeles.
The Getty Center opened in 1997. It has sculptures and paintings worth billions of dollars. It has indoor and outdoor art. The building was designed to focus on art and nature (Pacific Ocean, San Gabriel Mountains, and the city itself). The Central Garden is in middle of the center and in a circle shape. It is lined with trees. There are walkways, fountains, and lots of plants.
The most sign in the world is the Hollywood sign. It was built in 1923 on Mt. Lee. One out of four professional actors in the U.S. live in Los Angeles. Moviemakers moved to Los Angeles so that they could have all
different weather in the same city within a few hours of driving. If the different weather were
not close by it would take a lot longer to make movies.
Sports
The Los Angeles Lakers won the National Basketball Association (NBA) championship in 1999-2000 seasons. This is my favorite basketball team. My favorite player is Kobe Bryant.
The Los Angeles Dodgers is one of the two Major League Baseball teams from California. They won their first World Series in 1959.
There has been no professional football ever since 2000, but they still have college football that people follow. If you do not like college football, you had better move! There are more sports and activities for the everyday person to enjoy like volleyball, biking, weight lifting, horseback riding, swimming, playing on playgrounds, and going to amusement parks.
