People interact with the environment and the environment is affected by the people.
Traffic & Pollution
Angelenos are very dependent upon their cars. Since they rely on their cars, many things have changed. Houses were built with attached garages, drive-in restaurants popped up, and freeways were built. Crowded cars on the freeways cause exhaust pollution, which mixed with the sun to form smog. The smog does not go anywhere because of all the mountains in the area, which can lead to health problems for Angelenos. Their was a recent study that people's asthma flared up on freeways.
Tourism & Cultural/Natural Resources
Los Angeles depends on tourism for their economy. Tourists depend on California's environment for recreation. People visit Los Angeles for the climate and its cultural and natural resources. They go swimming in the ocean and sunbathe on the beaches, go skiing in the mountains, and go hiking in the forest. They visit Hollywood, the movie studios, and Disneyland to name a few places. The more tourists that visit, the more money Los Angeles gets. The city had to build things to bring the people. Los Angeles International Airport has been expanded many times to accommodate all the tourists, which required more land. The Metropolitan Transit Authority (MTA) was created to help the tourists get around easier and freeways were also expanded, both lead to pollution.
